Awana Club

Awana's Ministry

The AWANA Club's Goal Is to:

“Reach Boys & Girls With the Gospel of Christ And Train Them to Serve Him”

AWANA means  “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” – From II Timothy 2:15

What Is AWANA Club?

AWANA is a nondenominational ministry that assists churches in reaching children and teens with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him.  Our AWANA club at Community Baptist Church meets each Wednesday from September through May.  Weekly check-in begins at 6:15pm and Club is over at 8:00pm.  We begin each AWANA meeting by gathering in the gym for the flag ceremony which includes, pledges to the American & AWANA flags, singing, announcements, and prayer.  Clubbers then join their various groups to memorize scripture, play games, learn a Bible lesson, and receive awards.

This group is for children too young for Cubbies.

CUBBIES – 3 and 4 yr. Old Preschoolers

This is a fun group where bible-centered handbooks and club activities help them to begin to build a solid understanding of the basics of Christianity at an early age.  Their time together includes games, puppets, crafts, scripture memory, and other activities where fun and learning go hand in hand.

SPARKS – K, 1st & 2nd Grade

This club will build on the material taught in the Cubbies, taking them deeper into God's work while giving them regular opportunities to hear the gospel.  The Sparks program is firmly grounded in scripture and in 3 years they will learn and review 68 verses. Sparks meetings combine learning with fun and create an atmosphere of great excitement.  Club meetings include learning scripture and age-appropriate games on the AWANA game circle.

TRUTH & TRAINING – 3rd though 6th Grade Boys & Girls

The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of AWANA to teach them the truth of God's Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives.  T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow – today.  By the time a child has completed this program, they will have learned and reviewed 310 verses, studied passages from the Old and New Testament and regularly heard and read the gospel message.  Weekly meetings expose them to the gospel message, scripture memory, bible study, awards, team oriented games on the AWANA game circle and gut-busting fun.

YOUTH – 7th though 12th Grade Boys & Girls

This club combines scripture memory, learning Bible truths,

reading through the Bible, and ministry.  Awana Youth come early at 6:00 to quote their scriptures and report completed work.  They play with the younger clubbers, participate in Opening Ceremony, and assist in Cubbies and Sparks until 7:00.  Then they join the other youth for worship, prayer, and Bible Study until 8:00.

Clubbers through 6th grade earn awards to be displayed on their uniforms.  There are also various monthly awards, such as Clubber of the Month in each group and awards for book completion.  There are monthly “theme nights” such as, “crazy hat night”, “silly shoe night” and one of their favorites, “let your light shine night”.   Clubbers earn AWANA bucks each week for their work, wearing their uniform etc; they can then spend these in the AWANA store that is held once a quarter.

Our AWANA program here is blessed to have many leaders and directors who each have a heart for children and a desire to see them come into a relationship with the Lord.  It is our goal to create an environment where all kids feel welcome and loved.  We encourage our clubbers to invite their friends and neighbors to come and experience the love of God and God's people and to have the time of their lives!!!

We have many special events throughout the year.

In October, we start the year off with a Fair!

In December, we serve Christmas dinner to 100 Senior Citizens from the Gano Mission in Houston!

In March, we race our Grand Prix cars!

We finish the year celebrating all of our hard work with an Awards Ce

All of us would love to see you at Awanas to learn God's word and have a fun time doing it!
